Next 5 Years Goals

Posted in Personal, Random

Blogathon Day 15: What are some of your goals for the next 5 years (life, personal, professional whichever).

1. Vacation

I seriously haven’t been on a vacation in about 6+ years. Really hoping to go to Disney sometime this year, but going out of the country for a vacation would also be wonderful!

2. Move

I don’t care if it’s to another city, state, country, whatever but I’d love to move again (maybe even several times?) over the next 5 years. Buying a house would also be wonderful!

3. Career

I feel like all I’ve ever had are jobs. I currently have a job that I love, however, it’s coming to a close due to some things going on in the company and them having to cut back and get rid of a lot of people. I just want to know that I have job security in a job that I love and I’m passionate about.

4. Love

Finding love would be nice. Whether that’s with a significant other or just in myself.

5. Pet

I haven’t had a pet in a very long time, and I hope that in the next 5 years I’ll be able to either adopt a dog or a cat or both! I just miss having a pet in my life, but sadly where I currently live I can’t have a pet.

So my goals for the next 5 years are pretty simple, but I think they’re doable! What are some of your goals?

5 Things I Couldn’t Live Without

Posted in Blogathon, Random, Tech

Blogathon Day 14: 5 things you couldn’t live without (not including living things).

Obviously these are things that I could live without if I needed to, but here are some of things that I just love and would prefer to not live without.

1. My computer

I feel like both my desktop computer and laptop can both fit into this category, but just a computer in general is not something I’d want to live without. I use my computer for everything. Gaming, editing videos, streaming, etc etc.

2. My phone

Having a smart phone now-a-days is just a huge convenience. I can use it as a map, to make a call (do people call people anymore anyways lol?), text, take photos, etc. I currently have an iPhone 7 with a pop socket on the back (seriously love this thing) and I just love it.

3. Nintendo Switch

Okay I could live without this if I needed to … but since I bought my Nintendo Switch last month I’ve just been so in love with it. I love that I can game on the go or I can plug it into my monitor or tv and game with others or just alone with the big screen.

4. Lipgloss

Finally something not tech related, but I just love lipgloss or lipstick. I love using a subtle nude color or a bright red, I feel like it really brings a look together.

5. Blankets

I love blankets. I have a lot and I’m usually always sitting at my desk with a blanket in my lap or curled up in bed watching tv with a blanket or two.

So those are just a few things that I couldn’t live without, what are some things you couldn’t live without?

3 Dinner Guests

Posted in Blogathon, Random

Blogathon Day 13: You’re having a dinner party and you can invite 3-5 celebrities (dead or alive) to join you, who do you invite? (don’t ask how the dead can eat lol)

1. Sarah Michelle Gellar

I don’t think this comes as a shock to anyone that knows me, but I’d have Sarah Michelle Gellar! I’ve loved her since her Buffy days, and she just seems so lovely (would also be neat if her husband was there too!). They’re serious relationship goals, and they’re both foodies! So I feel like they’d be perfect dinner guests.

2. Kate Becksinsale

Another celebrity I admire, I first saw her in the movie Underworld and have loved her ever since. She’s another amazing actress and she’s very intelligent, but also has a silly side (she’s known for playing pranks on set!) so I feel like she’d be a fun guest.

3. Colbie Caillat

I’ve loved her music since her hit song Bubbly was topping the charts back in the early 2000’s. She still creates beautifully written music that either puts me in a good mood or causes me too many feels haha. I’d love to have her as a dinner party guest just to get a chance to sit and chat with her about her music.

Of course there are plenty of other celebrities that I’d love to have a dinner party with, but these 3 are definitely at the top of the list! Who would you love to have dinner with?

Day in the Life

Posted in Blogathon, Personal

Blogathon Day 12: Day in the Life (Original prompt Favorite thing to do to wind down?)

Was supposed to do a Day in the Life post a few days ago, but ended up not being able to so I decided to make that my prompt for today! So here’s how my day today went.

So the original plan was to wake up between 9-10am, but I ended up not falling asleep until after 5am. Oops. So after I (finally) woke up around 12pm (OOPS) I made lunch.

Started bowling some water (I didn’t realize how dirty the stove was … woops I promise I cleaned it after!). For lunch I was craving some good ‘ol boxed mac and cheese so I made that. I don’t eat it often, but today was a lazy-ish day. I originally planned on making a nice cup of coffee if I woke up early, but that didn’t happen. I decided to grab the Starbucks Peppermint Mocha that I had in the fridge instead!

Drank it out of my awesome Buffy mug. The mug changes with heat, but sadly I was in the mood for cold coffee that morning instead. Basically sipped on the coffee while I waited for my food to finish.

Let’s Go to Hogwarts

Posted in Blogathon, Random

Blogathon Day 11: What is one place you’d love to travel to? Real or fictional.

Hogwarts, no contest! If Hogwarts was a legitimate place I’d love to go there. The castle itself is just so gorgeous on the outside, but the inside looks even more breath taking. I’d love to run around Hogwarts and explore some of my favorite places that I’ve read in the books and also seen in the movies.

I guess until I actually get my letter though, I’ll have to settle for experiencing Harry Potter at Universal.

My Graphic Design Degree

Posted in Blogathon, Personal

Blogathon Day 10: If you went to school, what did you go to school for?

So I originally got my AA from a community college and then after that I went on to get my Bachelor’s degree, which I’ll mostly be talking about now. In January 2007 I started attending Florida State University, it was the only university I applied (which was dumb, but thankfully I got in!) and I was excited to move away from home and go to school.

The degree I actually got is a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Studio Art with a concentration and graphic and web design, although I don’t really use my degree right now as my job I have no regrets about getting it. I LOVED attending FSU and I loved their design program. I learned a lot from my professors as well as my fellow classmates and over the last few years have toyed with the idea of going back to school to get my Master’s (maybe one day). You can see some of the art I made for class above (one is a digital poster and the other is a self portrait painting), I still have a lot of the artwork I made in school and even some of the paintings I did for some of my classes still hang on the walls in my office.

My 2 favorite classes that I took were probably photography and painting. Photography was something I was always interested in and the class allowed me to not only learn how to take and process photos with a film camera, but also I got to use my Photoshop skills in editing the photos myself. My painting class I took with my figure drawing professor, so I already knew her which made things a lot easier. I learned A LOT from that class and really want to get back into painting.

If you want to see any of my classwork from when I was in school I have some of the work on my Flickr page.

10 Things On My Bucket List

Posted in Blogathon, Personal

Blogathon Day 9: List 10 things on your bucket list. (original prompt: Favorite childhood memory?)

For Day 9 I decided to swap out the original prompt with one of the optional ones, mostly because I couldn’t think of anything lol. Not that I don’t have some amazing childhood memories, but I didn’t think I remembered enough detail to really write about it. So here we go, 10 Things On My Bucket List aka things I want to do before I die in no particular order.

1. Travel to Another Country

I have never been outside of the US, so I would love to vacation in another country ideally for a month … but 2 weeks would be great too! Some places I’d love to visit in no particular order: Japan, Canada, Spain, France, Australia, England, and pretty much anywhere else.

2. Get a Tattoo

I mentioned in my 20 Facts About Me post that I’ve always wanted to get a tattoo, even if it was just something small. So that is another thing on my list that I’m hoping to get before I turn 35 (so 3 years to go!).

3. Go on a Cruise

I’ve always loved the idea of going on a cruise, specifically I’d love to do an Alaskan cruise but honestly I’d be fine going anywhere.

4. Swim with Sharks

I love sharks. I’ve always been fascinated with them and one day I’d love to go swimming with them in the ocean. I’d like to actually do it twice, once with a cage and once without. I’d also like to swim with dolphins, but obviously not at the same time.

5. Go to a Convention

I’ve always wanted go to a convention, the one I’d love to go to is Blizzcon, but I’d be happy with any comic, anime, gaming or some other nerd convention.

6. Hot Air Balloon

My grandparents a very long time ago for one of their anniversaries did a hot air balloon ride and it looked like SO much fun. Since then I’ve always wanted to do it.

7. Skydiving

Another thing I’ve always wanted to do is go skydiving, I also love the idea of filming the entire experience.

8. Learn to Play Guitar

When I was about 15 or so I asked for an acoustic guitar for Christmas. I still have it, and I have no idea how to play it. Before I moved up north a few years ago I started to teach myself how to play it, but quit since I didn’t

9. Learn to Surf

Although I’ve spent most of my life in Florida, I’ve never been surfing and I hope to learn one day!

10. Go Back to School

Something I’ve been thinking about doing is going back to school, not necessarily for another degree (although I would like to get my masters) but to just take some classes in general (painting, drawing, etc).

So those are 10 things on my bucket list, what are some things on yours?

Something I Miss

Posted in Blogathon, Personal

Blogathon Day 8: Something You Miss (previous prompt Day in the Life via photos or just pure text)

So I decided to swap today’s prompt for another one, because I ended up not running errands today and I’d rather do a DIL post when I’m actually do something that day, so I’ll do that later this week instead!

Anyways. One thing I really miss is snow. I lived in Ohio for 3 winters and something I enjoyed every winter was the snow fall. Even after living there for over 2 years, I still loved it.

There’s something so peaceful about watching the snow fall. I hope to eventually move back up north or to another country that has snow. One day!

All The Currents

Posted in Blogathon, Random

Blogathon Day 7: Your current (book you’re reading, show you’re watching, game you’re playing etc).

So for this post you technically don’t have to list all of your currents, but I thought it could be more interesting so here we go!

Current Book

I started reading The Magicians a few months ago after I watched the first season of the show on Netflix (season 2 is here now, highly recommend it) I’ve been reading it off and on (admittedly more off than on haha) but hoping to finish it soon. It’s basically a much darker version of Harry Potter.

Current Game(s)

So I’m always playing Overwatch and World of Warcraft, so I won’t count those since they have no real end 😛 Besides those two I’m playing The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Super Mario Odyssey on the Nintendo Switch I recently purchased. I’m really enjoying both and I’m so glad that I bought a Switch! I keep swapping between both  games because I enjoy them both, if you decide to get a Switch they are a must have! I’m normally pretty bad about finishing a game fully, but I see myself finish both of these games this year.

Current Show(s)

I have a habit of watching several shows at once when it comes to Netflix and other streaming services, especially if a show has more than 3+ seasons. Currently on Amazon Prime I’m watching Monk (on season 4), I watched the show when it originally aired but it’s been a while and never really saw the first season nor do I remember how it ended so I wanted to check it out again. I also started watching the show Covert Affairs about a month or so ago, I’m also on season 4 of this show but I’ve never seen it before! It’s one of those shows I always wanted to watch when it aired, but I just never did.

So that is my currents! What is something that you’re currently doing this month?

My Favorite Apps

Posted in Blogathon, Tech

Blogathon Day 6: Your favorite Apps (list 3-5, or just 1 that’s your #1 fav)

In today’s day in age it’s no secret that technology, especially phones, are part of our everyday lives. My phone is a device I use daily (although I probably shouldn’t …) and over the years of owning a smartphone (currently have an iPhone 7) I’ve downloaded and fallen in love with dozens and dozens of apps, but for this post I’m going to just list my top 3. For this I didn’t want to include the typical apps like Twitter, Discord, Facebook, etc. but some that people maybe haven’t heard of but are ones that I use often. So here we go, in no particular order! Also note, this is not sponsored this is all my own personal opinion.

1. AfterShip

I found out about AfterShip through a planner Facebook group and it’s such a wonderful app if you order a lot of things online like I do. I use this app anytime after I’ve ordered something online. It allows me to track all packages all from various carriers in one convenient location. It’ll also send you alerts when a package has been delivered which comes in handy if you forget.

2. TV Time

I don’t remember how I found out about TV Time, but as someone that tends to watch a bunch of different shows (sometimes at the same time) it has come in handy. The app allows you to track any upcoming shows that you’re currently watching that are still airing as well as keep track of shows you’re binge watching on places like Netflix. First screenshot shows what the “upcoming” view looks like and the screenshot on the right shows a recent show I decided to rewatch (Monk) and how the tracking for that looks like. You can track each season and just check it off whenever you finish an episode. If I ever go back to a show after having not watched it in over a year this app helps so much with figuring out where I left off (especially if a show goes from being on Netflix to being on another app like Hulu so I no longer have my progress saved there).

3. Ebates

I mentioned Ebates before in my “How I Made $135 Through Ebates” post, but the app has been a vital part in making money buy shopping online. As you can see in the app (bottom right of the screenshot) I’ve already made almost $30 using this website. Sometimes I shop from Amazon, Ebay, and other online retail stores straight from my phone. Being able to use the app while shopping online means that I can still earn money while doing something I do anyways, buy items online. After buying stuff I can also put it in the AfterShip app once they’ve shipped!
