I Tried the Starbucks Unicorn Frappuccino

Posted in Photos, Random

If you haven’t already heard, today Starbucks released a new drink called the Unicorn Frappuccino. The drink is available from April 19th to April 23rd.On their website it’s described as “magical flavors start off sweet and fruity transforming to pleasantly sour. Swirl it to reveal a color-changing spectacle of purple and pink. It’s finished with whipped cream-sprinkled pink and blue fairy powders.” Saying this drink is magical is a huge understatement.

The base of the drink is a fruity mango blend that is SO good, and is swirled with a sour blue magical drizzle. You get a very nice mix of sweet and sour. If you’re not a huge fan of sour, you may not be a big fan of this drink but I promise you the sour drizzle isn’t super over powering. Seriously, I can’t recommend this drink enough.

I was pleasantly surprised by how delicious this drink actually was. There’s enough sour drizzle in it that you get the taste of it, but it doesn’t overpower the mango blended into the drink (I actually would have loved more of the drizzle, but I also really enjoy sour things). I think my only real complaint is the whipped topping.

Although the whipped topping with the sour dusting is delicious, I found it didn’t really match the overall flavors of the drink. The whipped cream tasted a bit weird when mixed with the blue sour drizzle, but just for the looks I’d probably still order the drink again with the topping. If you plan on going non-dairy with this drink,  you won’t miss too much without the whipped cream (besides the pretty dusting).

Overall I really enjoyed the drink, and my only regret is not getting a bigger size than grande! Depending on where you live and the size you get, the drink is about $5 (mine was around $5.60 for grande) and it’s oh so worth it! I’m only saddened that this drink is only out for a limited time, but I do hope Starbucks brings it back in the future because I totally believe! If you’ve tried the drink, please let me know your thoughts on it in the comment section.
