Since I work from home and I also do a lot of pet/house sitting for people I really enjoy trying different meal delivery services. The convenience alone is just, well so convenient but I also get to try some things I may wouldn’t have tried before. I recently got sent a 50% off code in the mail from GoReadyMade.com so I figured I’d give it a shot and try it out. Please note, this is NOT a sponsored video. I’m sure they sent those codes out to everyone, I just decided to try it out and write up a little blog post. GRM is a little different from other meal delivery services because you don’t actually have to fully cook everything,

For this I am going to specifically review of three different meals: a chicken dish, beef dish, and a pasta dish. For my plan since I had the 50% off coupon I decided to get 6 meals in total (without the discount these meals would have been $9.99 per meal so around $60), I’ll of course leave quick little reviews for all of the meals though. Let’s get into the actual package and packing, and then talk about the food itself.

The meals were packaged pretty well. In a nice sized cardboard box sounded my ice and other things to keep it’s shape. Removing the icepack on top revealed the treasures that lurked below.

The meals overall were packaged nicely. Here’s all 6 of the meals I got.

So now let’s get to the good stuff, how did everything actually taste? So these are the meals I got: Soy Glazed Steak
with Wasabi Mashed Potatoes, Butter-Basted Chicken with Thyme Carrots and Parmesan Mash, Chicken and Cherry Balsamic Sauce with Roasted Potatoes and Broccoli, Teriyaki Salmon with Snow Peas and Rice, Cheesy Tortellini Bolognese with Hearty Tomato & Beef Sauce, and Beef Steak with Peppercorn Sauce with Herb Roasted Potatoes. So here are 3 of the meals with a more details review.

First up is Beef Steak with Peppercorn Sauce with Herb Roasted Potatoes.  Here is the front and back of the package. I noticed the back of this one and some of the others the ink rubbed a little so it was hard to sometimes see the directions. What is appealing about these meals is that they send you everything and you only have to maybe cook one or two things, it’s all measured etc and ready to go.

Here’s what’s inside the package!

I took the meat out and followed the directions. Places the potatoes and veggies in the microwave and followed those instructions too.

After everything was finished cooking I placed it on a plate. This meal was the first meal I tried and it was … okay. The veggies look NOTHING like they do in their photo on their site. The potatoes were okay and the steak itself wasn’t terrible. The sauce was a bit runny, but it was a nice sauce. Overall I’d rate this meal a 2/5 stars  ★★☆☆☆. I was disappointed not only in the veggies (which I didn’t even eat), but also just the overall flavor of the meal.

Next up I had the Chicken and Cherry Balsamic Sauce with Roasted Potatoes and Broccoli.

Right away I noticed the “best by” date was missing. I sorta figured the date was the same as the rest of the meals, but was still a little weary about it not being there. But I did eat it and was fine, so there’s that 😛

Here’s what it looked like inside. The chicken also came out of the package and dripped a little, which not going to lie … was gross. It didn’t get on anything, so I figured it was okay.

Cooked the chicken in the pan following the instructions and cooked the potatoes and broccoli in the microwave. I did notice some of the pieces of broccoli were brown and didn’t look good enough to eat, so I skipped over those ones.

Meal was finished in about 7 or so minutes. I put it on a paper plate since I’m in the process of moving and I don’t have any cute plates that aren’t packed. Overall this meal was okay. The chicken itself was really good, I loved the butter that they supplied to cook it in. The sauce was okay, it was very overpowering with the balsamic so it either needed more cherry or something else to sweeten it up just a little.

I did notice that once again with another meal it wasn’t like the picture. The potatoes were different compared to what was shown on the package, although they were still good.

Overall this meal wasn’t terrible. I liked the sides better than the previous dish, so I’d give this one 3/5 stars  ★★☆☆☆.

Next up we have Cheesy Tortellini Bolognese with Hearty Tomato & Beef Sauce. This one was 100% done in the microwave, and boy did it taste like it …

Here’s what the inside looked like.

This is what it looked like heated up. Let me just say this tasted like a microwaveable frozen meal, as did really most of these meals.

The pasta itself tasted over cooked and it wasn’t very well seasoned. The sauce itself was okay, but it’s nothing something I’d eat again. Wasn’t terrible, but wasn’t enjoyable either. I’d give this one 1/5 stars  ★☆☆☆☆.

Here’s a quick breakdown of the other meals too:

  • Soy Glazed Steak with Wasabi Mashed Potatoes  ★½☆☆☆
  • Butter-Basted Chicken with Thyme Carrots and Parmesan Mash  ★½☆☆☆
  • Teriyaki Salmon with Snow Peas and Rice ★☆☆☆☆
  • Beef Steak with Peppercorn Sauce with Herb Roasted Potatoes  ★★☆☆☆

Overall this isn’t a service I’d order from again. I felt like I was eating freezer meals that I had to cook myself. Majority of the meals weren’t as pictured and the portions for some seemed way smaller than they should have been. A lot of the food wasn’t very well seasoned, and the sauces provided were usually underwhelming. The meals were not worth the cost, even with 50% off. This is not a service I recommend, or one I will purchase from again. Although these meals were convenient and came in handy on busy days in the long run they were just not worth it.

With that said, I’d LOVE to try another meal delivery service so if you have any recommendations please let me know in the comment section and feel free to include referral links!
